Huawei plans to support Smart City Project in India

India has been considered the most strategic market for growth by the Chinese Telecom maker Huawei. The organization has recently expressed its interest of expanding into the Indian market. Derek Hao, President, Enterprise Business Group, Huawei India remarks, “We will be expanding our enterprise products and working on other areas like IoT, big data, cloud at our Indian R&D center in Bengaluru.”

The firm has a huge base in the country, employing about 8,000 total employees. Huawei’s largest offshore R&D unit is in Bengaluru, which has a strength of 1,000 employees. The firm has another 1,000 personnel working at its Global service center, to support domestic and international telecom carrier customers in over 30-plus markets across EMEA.

The two factories located in Chennai, focuses on production of midrange smartphones like the Honor series. Huawei is currently utilizing its resources to expand its distribution solution for enterprise products, with dealers and channel partners like with Redington India.

After successfully helping Kenya build a digital health system, which received an award at the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona, Huawei has decided to shift its focus and concentrate on Indian market. The firm is currently in talks with the Indian government official, discussing the Smart City project. Huawei has a significant lot to contribute towards the Smart City initiative, given that the Indian government is pushing Digital India and Smart City projects.

Recently, the organization entered a partnership with Infosys, to host their banking product Finacle on Huawei’s FusionCloud based platform. Huawei has an impressive client base of over 300 financial institutions, which include top 10 global banks.
